Markus Salcher cannot be satisfied with his first race in the Season. The Austrian did not finish in the first WC giant slalom of the season in Kühtai (AUT). Yesterday a delegation of the Austrian Ski Federation had the chance to meet Pope Francis in the Vatican City. Markus Salcher was part of this group. The pope mentioned that the athletes are “idols for the youth” and promised to pray for them. “It was an incredible experience with impressions that will last forever”, Markus Salcher said. Afterwards the delegation was got a guided tour through the Saint Peter’s Cathedral.
The Austrian Markus Salcher finished in the second position in the overall ranking of the IPC Europa Cup. The two-times Paralympic Champion was just beaten by his teammate Martin Würz. In the Giant Slalom in Obersaxen, Switzerland the 24 year old also finished second while he won the last Super-G of the season.
